LANZAROTE which lies furthest to the northeast, and is only 125km from the coast of Africa, has a surface measurement of 795 sq. km, and is the fourth largest island.
It is the most individual of the canary island, it appears strange, almost bizarre with its moonlike landscape. There are few green areas, hardly any trees, many reddish- brown lava masses and fields of sharp black lava rock.
